Ready for a career as a commercial driver? You’ll need your Class 1 or Class 3 licence.
The Class 1 licence allows you to drive semi-trucks, tractor trailers, and road tractors. The Class 3 licence is for driving dump trucks, garbage trucks, and fire trucks.
Okanagan Valley Driving School offers various professional driver training packages for Class 1 & 3 students.
Class 1
Melt
Training

From extensive training to on-the-job opportunities, our Class 1 MELT Training program has everything you need to become an employable, professional/commercial driver.
This program includes group classroom theory as well as group in-yard training, one-on-one driving lessons, pre-trip training, in-yard/off road training so you have the skills to be fully prepared and ready to work confidently in the industry.
Okanagan Valley Driving School Class 1 ICBC approved MELT Training course includes:
- 140 hours of ICBC approved MELT Training which include:
- 54 hours of one-on-one driving training lessons
- 47 hours of group classroom theory training
- 21 hours of in-yard training
- 18 hours of off-road training
- 4 hours for ICBC road test*

The Advanced Class 1 MELT Program provides students with additional seat time behind the wheel so they can feel more comfortable and confident behind the wheel of a commercial vehicle.
Okanagan Valley Driving School Class 1 ICBC approved Advanced MELT Training course includes:
- 160 hours of ICBC approved MELT Training which include:
- 74 hours of one-on-one driving training lessons
- 47 hours of group classroom theory training
- 21 hours of in-yard training
- 18 hours of off-road training
- 4 hours for ICBC road test*

Class 3
Standard
Training

Our Class 3 Standard Training program is designed for students that are wanting to learn how to operate a Class 3 truck (i.e., straight dump truck, garbage truck, and fire truck). Our experienced and professional instructors provide one-on-one driving lessons and pre-trip training to gain the basic knowledge and skills for driving a truck.
Okanagan Valley Driving School Class 3 Standard Training course includes:
- 21 hours of practical on-the-road lessons.
- Use of our truck for your ICBC road test.*

Class 3
Advanced
Training

Our Class 3 Advanced Training program is designed for students that are wanting to learn how to operate a Class 3 truck but may require a bit more training than the Class 3 Standard Training program.
Okanagan Valley Driving School Class 3 Advanced Training Course includes:
- 30 hours of practical on-the-road lessons.
- Use of our truck for your ICBC road test.*
